St. Mark's News & Events for March 9, 2008

Greetings as we begin another week!

My trip to Argentina was especially grand as I participated in the renewal of vows for two dear people who I befriended some years ago. The wife was from the area of Buenos Aires. She wanted her family to experience this renewal since many were not able to attend the actual wedding held a few years ago. While there, I was able to meet some fantastic people, and they taught me to do the Meringue to the delight of all the people in that great city.

After watching me dance, they wanted me to take part in the Argentinean Idol show that mirrors our own American Idol. I had to decline since I had to get back to America and couldn’t make the audition. However, I promised to send them a tape and guaranteed that Simon Cowell would watch it and nominate me for the show. I agreed as long as it wasn’t held during Holy Week. Other than the dancing, I did eat some great beef since Argentina is known for it. It certainly was delicious although I think I’m all “beefed out” after spending 4 days there.

All in all, it was a great experience and one of the few places an American can go where the dollar actually is doing better. I would recommend it to anyone even though it is a long plane ride.

This week on Thursday, March 13 at 7:00 pm we will be celebrating the Sacrament of Penance here at St. Mark. Over 10 priests will be with us for this event and I hope that many of you will partake of this moment of Grace as we head into Holy Week.

Well, that is all for now. Continue to enjoy the gift that God has given us in each other.

Sincerely,
Fr. David
